The Harold and Carole Pump Foundation (HCPF) hosted its 26th Anniversary Celebrity Dinner on Thursday night, and among those being honored were Los Angeles Dodgers players Mookie Betts, Kiké Hernández, Teoscar Hernández, Andy Pages, Miguel Rojas, Will Smith and manager Dave Roberts with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
In addition, Dodgers co-owner Magic Johnson was among the celebrity guests in attendance and an on-stage speaker.
The milestone evening raised over $3.3 million in support of the foundation’s mission to advance cancer treatment and fund critical programs.
The Dodgers were honored for winning the 2025 World Series as back-to-back champions.
“Really important for us to be here as a team and being recognized once again,” Rojas told DodgerBlue.com. “It feels like it never stops. The last couple years have been really cool seeing the attention that we get, but we’re here for something bigger.
“This event is especially close to something I had to go through a couple years with my mom, and losing her to cancer. It’s really important for me to continue to help find cures and put it out there for the next people who have to go through the fight. Really important to me, especially, but the team is really overwhelmed with the attention we’re getting from the last couple years.”
While accepting the Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of the Dodgers, Roberts shared, “What David and Dana Pump have done, this legacy doesn’t happen in five, 10 or 15 years. They have the same enthusiasm and motivation 26 years later.”
The HCPF honors Harold, a father who lost his battle with cancer in 2000, and Carole, a loving mother who passed away in 2012. Their sons Dana and David Pump have raised more than $13.5 Million for the Carole Pump Women’s Center, the Harold and Carole Pump Department of Radiation Oncology, the Thomas and Dorothy Leavey Cancer Center at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, and other non-profit community charities.
“David and Dana are very good friends of mine,” Roberts told DodgerBlue.com. “They lost their parents to cancer, and they’ve had this foundation for 26 years. So for me, the Dodgers, to be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, it’s special.
“They’re doing great things, helping the hospitals, giving people free care and prevention. So for me, it’s an off night, but get dressed up, see a lot of celebrities I grew up watching. It’s going to be a fun evening.”
The mission of the Harold and Carole Pump Foundation is to raise funds and create awareness for the treatment and cure of cancer. By engaging the community, sports leaders, and those touched by the disease, financial support is given to develop cancer treatments, programs, and services, and to obtain the most advanced medical technologies.
The star-studded event captivated guests with a show-stopping performance by legendary rapper and producer Doug E. Fresh and featured one-of-a-kind items during the signature silent and live auctions, including coveted sports memorabilia, luxurious travel experiences, VIP tickets to world-class events and more.
“That’s always something fun. Just sitting back and appreciating what you did as a group,” Kiké Hernández told DodgerBlue.com. “It’s something that in this sport we don’t really get to do that often because it’s always, ‘Alright cool, we did this. Now let’s move forward onto the next one.’
“Obviously, it’s almost the end of the next season, but to here is really cool. For me, this foundation and what they support and stand for, cancer is something that hit home really closely for me. It’s more about that than just being honored as a group.”
Dodgers players dress up for the celebration dinner
All the players were dressed for the occasion, wearing suits and showing off their fashion sense. Roberts appreciated seeing his players looking their best instead of in the Dodgers uniform he’s mostly accustomed to seeing them in.
“They do great,” Roberts said. “I’m so used to seeing them in the same outfit every day, but to see them with their spouses, dressed to the nines, they look sharp. They clean up OK.”
