Dodgers’ Home Series Against Nationals, Padres Sold Out

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced their upcoming home series against the Washington Nationals (April 9-11) and San Diego Padres (April 22-25) have both sold out. The team is yet to sell single-game tickets beyond the month of April.

The Dodgers’ three-game series against the Nationals is on track to be played after Washington was cleared to face the Atlanta Braves Tuesday following a coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak that delayed the start of their season.

L.A.’s home opener on Friday will mark the first time fans are in attendance at Dodger Stadium since Game 5 of the 2019 National League Division Series, coincidentally which was also against the Nationals.

A World Series ring ceremony will be held prior to first pitch, making the day all the more special.

Looking ahead to the Dodgers’ first home series against the Padres, it will be the second matchup between the teams this season. They are scheduled to play at Petco Park one week prior.

The Dodgers went 6-4 against the Padres during the 2020 regular season before going on to sweep them in the NL Division Series. It was San Diego’s first time in the playoffs since 2006.

Both teams were among the most active in all of baseball this past offseason, as they reinforced their respective rosters with All-Star talent.

The Dodgers signed Trevor Bauer to a record-setting three-year contract, while the Padres added Blake Snell and Yu Darvish to their starting rotation. “They’re a very talented team, they’ve done a nice job,” manager Dave Roberts recently said.

“It’s going to be fun to compete against those guys all year. I know fans are excited about it and I’m sure our players are too.”

Justin Turner was among the players excited to see the Padres make so many aggressive moves over the winter. “It was exciting watching what they were doing. I think it’s good for the game of baseball. They’re going out and being aggressive and going for it,” he said.

“It’s good to see teams doing that. I think the way I look at it — now that I’m back here with the Dodgers — is we’re going to get 19 World Series games this year, so it will be a good test for us and good preparation to get ready for the playoffs.”

Bauer looking forward to matchup against Padres

Bauer, who previously noted he is eager to face Manny Machado more frequently this season, also can’t wait to face the talented Padres in general.

“It was exciting watching what they were doing. I think it’s good for the game of baseball,” Bauer said.”They’re going out and being aggressive and going for it. It’s good to see teams doing that.

“I think the way I look at it — now that I’m back here with the Dodgers — is we’re going to get 19 World Series games this year, so it will be a good test for us and good preparation to get ready for the playoffs.”
