The Los Angeles Dodgers announced they will commemorate their ninth World Series title in franchise history on Monday, Nov. 3, with a championship parade in Downtown Los Angeles and a special ticketed celebration at Dodger Stadium.
It marks a second consecutive year the Dodgers are celebrating a World Series, which ended MLB’s drought of not having a repeat champion since the New York Yankees won three titles in a row from 1998-2000.
To do so the Dodgers won Games 6 and 7 against the Toronto Blue Jays on the road. It culminated with a dramatic final game at Rogers Centre that saw the Dodgers come from behind multiple times to win in extra innings.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched the final 2.2 innings and earned the win. Yamamoto was voted World Series MVP for his remarkable effort that included pitching on back-to-back days.
