Tyler Glasnow had his best start of the season, things continued to click for James Outman and Will Smith hit his first home run of the year to help the Los Angeles Dodgers secure a series win against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.
Three-run homers from Outman and Smith in the middle innings accounted for all of the Dodgers’ offense in the game, but that was all the support Glasnow would need. He was in complete command from start to finish against a struggling Twins lineup, only throwing 88 pitches to tie his career high in strikeouts with 14.
Once Glasnow established command of the fastball he mixed in his curveball to great effect. The resulting change in speeds had the Twins batters guessing all night long and produced a lot of looking strikeouts for Glasnow.

With the Dodgers leading 6-0, Glasnow’s night was done after seven innings, but he easily could have thrown a complete game with the way he was pitching. Ultimately, the bullpen was brought in to finish out the last two innings of the game. The Twins’ offense responded by immediately putting runs on the board.
Alex Vesia followed Glasnow and surrendered a solo home run to Ryan Jeffers in an otherwise uneventful inning. Conor Brogdon then was tasked with finishing out the game with a five-run lead in his Dodgers debut.
It was not a great first impression as Brogdon gave up back-to-back solo home runs to start the ninth inning, which caused Evan Phillips to begin warming up.
However, Phillips didn’t need to come into the game as Brogdon retired the next three batters in order to secure a 6-3 Dodgers’ win.
Dodgers lineup production
Although the Dodgers had their franchise record streak of games scoring at least five runs snapped, their power has returned in Minnesota.
The Dodgers have four home runs through the first two games of the series, while the Twins have managed just nine hits total.
