The Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t have a baserunner through three innings and saw 11 consecutive batters retired in a row late in the game, but they still managed to pull out a 5-4 win over the Colorado Rockies in 10 innings.

Julio Urias did his part to match Antonio Senzatela as he also got through three perfect innings before the Rockies had their first baserunner. For both teams it came in the form of a chopper that went for an infield single in the fourth inning.

However, it was the Rockies who took advantage as Charlie Blackmon and C.J. Cron each hit an RBI double to put the Dodgers in a 2-0 hole.

Senzatela struck out the first two batters faced in the fifth, but Gavin Lux sparked a rally by driving a single the other way to beat the shift. Luke Raley, who was recalled Tuesday with Cody Bellinger going on the 10-day injured list, kept the inning alive with a base hit as well.

Urias then helped his effort with an RBI single, and that was followed by Mookie Betts easily beating out a high chopper to drive in the tying run from third base before Senzatela could get out of the inning.

L.A. took their first lead of the night on Max Muncy’s double that scored Trea Turner from first base in the sixth, complete with another patented effortless slide into home plate that had social media buzzing. Will Smith added to the Dodgers’ lead with a sacrifice fly.

Urias couldn’t protect the lead as the Rockies mounted another two-out rally in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull even.

The game remained tied until Albert Pujols’ pinch-hit RBI single that Brusdar Graterol and Alex Vesia combined to uphold in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Pujols relishing role with Dodgers

Although serving as a bat off the bench is a new role for Pujols, he reiterated his experience with the Dodgers has been enjoyable, including getting a chance to learn from younger teammates.
