The Los Angeles Dodgers began their road trip with a 9-5 win over the Colorado Rockies as they received contributions throughout the lineup and strong start from James Paxton.

Teoscar Hernández got the Dodgers going early with an RBI double in the first inning to bring in Freddie Freeman, who had drawn one of his five walks on the night. Freeman’s five walks set a career high, tied a Dodgers record and matched the all-time National League mark for a nine-inning game.

Freeman singled in the ninth inning to reach safely in all six plate appearances.

In the second inning, Shohei Ohtani delivered a two-out RBI single and that was followed by a triple from Will Smith that extended the Dodgers’ lead to 3-0. Ohtani went 3-for-5 with the one RBI and one walk in the leadoff spot as he’s likely to continue filling in for Mookie Betts at the top of the Dodgers’ lineup.

Miguel Rojas’ strong play this season produced an RBI double in the seventh inning that then was cashed in by a Cavan Biggio run-scoring single.

Jason Heyward contributed with a two-run base hit in the eighth inning, Gavin Lux hit an RBI double in the ninth and Smith capped off the Dodgers’ scoring with a sacrifice fly.

Dodgers undefeated with Miguel Rojas

The Dodgers improved to 20-0 this season in games where Rojas has at least one hit. He’s going to receive plenty of opportunities moving forward due to the Dodgers anticipating Betts being out a minimum of six weeks because of his left hand fracture.
