The Los Angeles Dodgers were down to their final out Tuesday night when they put together a string of hits that was capped by a walk-off single from Teoscar Hernández to lift them past the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-5.
Well before providing heroics, Hernández started the scoring with his two-out RBI double in the first inning. The table had been set by Shohei Ohtani leading off with a double.
Hernández then beat out a would-be inning-ending double play in the third to bring in a run on the force out.
After the Diamondbacks took a lead by scoring in the fourth and seventh innings, Ohtani put the Dodgers back ahead with a majestic two-run homer.

His blast in the seventh inning traveled 433 feet and gave Ohtani a National-League leading 27th home run this season.
“Every time the ball is up in the zone, I feel like it’s going to be hit out of the ballpark,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the walk-off win.
Ohtani revealed after the game that he likely is not going to participate in the 2024 Home Run Derby at Globe Life Field in order to prioritize his ongoing rehab process from last year’s right elbow surgery.
The Diamondbacks took a lead in the eighth inning and jumped ahead in the ninth when Joc Pederson lined a solo home run off Evan Phillips.
Then as the Dodgers were down to their last out, Will Smith hit a booming double to center field. Freddie Freeman’s RBI double tied the game and Hernández pulled the game-winning single into left field.
Dodgers walk-off wins
The Dodgers now have three walk-off wins during the 2024 season. Their first was by Andy Pages on May 3, and Ohtani followed suit May 19.
