Dodgers Highlights: Home Runs From Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger Provide Insurance And Help Walker Buehler Earn Victory Vs. Padres

The Los Angeles Dodgers got back in the win column on Sunday afternoon, defeating the San Diego Padres, 6-1, to earn a series victory at Dodger Stadium.

Walker Buehler had another great outing on the mound as he is developing into the All-Star caliber pitcher that everyone in the organization expected him to be when they drafted him in the first round in 2015.

For the second straight start, Buehler was able to keep his pitch count low enough to get through seven innings. He gave up just four hits and one run while striking out eight without issuing a walk. Buehler has 29 strikeouts against just two walks in his last four starts.

The Dodgers offense was quiet for most of the afternoon in what was a bullpen game for the Padres. They broke through for two runs in the third inning on three straight hits by Buehler, Chris Taylor and Kiké Hernandez.

Taylor, who is now back in his familiar leadoff spot, went 2-for-3 with a walk in the win.

Los Angeles then broke through in a big way in the bottom of the eighth inning to add some insurance to their 2-1 lead. Taylor led off the inning with a single, and that was followed by a towering two-run home run off the bat of Max Muncy, who now leads the team with 17 RBI in the month of May.

Later in the inning, Yasmani Grandal walked and later came around to score on a home run to center field by Cody Bellinger to complete the 6-1 victory. Bellinger has struggled in recent weeks, going four-for-his-last-40 prior to that home run.
