The Los Angeles Dodgers put on another power display and extended their winning streak to six games, won a 16th in a row against the Pittsburgh Pirates and completed a series sweep behind a 9-0 rout.

In what’s been a rare occurrence of late, the Dodgers picked up a full game on the San Francisco Giants in the process. L.A. now sits three back of San Francisco for first place in the National League West.

Max Muncy helped get the offense going early on Wednesday night, slugging a two-run home run to the opposite field in the first inning. Corey Seager, the fifth batter of the inning, added an RBI single before Pirates starter JT Brubaker could record an out.

AJ Pollock, who was inserted into the leadoff spot with Trea Turner and Chris Taylor both receiving a night of rest, continued swinging a hot bat and hit a solo home run in the second inning.

The Dodgers then broke the game open by taking advantage of Mitch White working a two-out walk in the fourth inning. Pollock singled, and Muncy connected on his second home run of the night. The multi-homer game was Muncy’s second in the past four days.

Corey Seager joined the home run barrage with a two-run shot in the sixth inning. That gave Seager seven multi-hit games in his past 12 starts.

White takes burden off Dodgers bullpen

What was an expected bullpen game amounted to Justin Bruihl and White taking care of matters from the mound. Bruihl, making just his second career start — both of which have been as an opener — recorded five outs.

White then took it from there by holding the Pirates scoreless over 7.1 innings to earn the win.
