Dodgers Highlights: Justin Turner Hits Game-Winning Home Run To Cap Off Sweep Of Mets

The Los Angeles Dodgers brought out the big sticks on Sunday afternoon, hitting seven solo home runs to earn an 8-7 win in 11 innings and cap off a three-game sweep of the New York Mets at Citi Field. The Dodgers have now beaten the Mets in 12 straight regular-season games.

The biggest swing of the day was off the bat of Justin Turner, who broke a 7-7 tie in the top of the 11th inning with a home run to left field off Mets reliever Chris Flexen. Turner did not start but appeared as a pinch-hitter and remained in the game before playing hero against his former team.

Earlier in the game, the Dodgers did not waste any time hitting balls out of the ballpark as Kiké Hernandez led off the game with a home run and Max Muncy followed with one of his own to put the Dodgers out in front, 2-0, just two batters into the game.

Hernandez was not done there, hitting another homer later in the game to give him 12 on the season. He went 3-for-6 on the day hitting in the leadoff spot.

Hernandaez was not the only Dodger to go deep twice on the afternoon, as Cody Bellinger also had a multi-homer game, his first of the season. He now has 15 home runs on the year, which is tied with Muncy for the team lead.

One inning after Hernandez tied the game, Joc Pederson clubbed a solo home run that briefly put the Dodgers ahead. The homer was Pederson’s 10th this season; nine of which have come in June.

The Dodgers are on pace to break their franchise record of most home runs in a month, which is 53, set last June. They currently have 46 in 20 games this month, so they need just eight more in the final six games of the month to break that record.
