Dodgers Highlights: Gawr Gura, Will Smith’s 3 Home Runs, Miguel Vargas & Freddie Freeman Big Hits

Will Smith set a career high with three home runs and the Los Angeles Dodgers received contributions from Miguel Vargas and Freddie Freeman in an 8-5 comeback win against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Smith opened the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning and he hit another in the second to put L.A. up 2-0. They remained ahead until Tyler Glasnow gave up a go-ahead grand slam in the fourth inning.

Glasnow had been cruising to that point as he was perfect through three innings. Glasnow went on to complete six innings, finishing with seven strikeouts and five runs allowed.

The outing was the longest by a Dodgers starting pitcher since Gavin Stone’s complete-game shutout on June 26.

Vargas hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning but the Dodgers continued to trail until Smith connected on his third long ball of the game in seventh inning. The Dodgers then scored three runs in the eighth on Freeman’s base hit that brought in a pair and Teoscar Hernández’s RBI double.

The Dodgers finished the game with six unanswered runs.

Dodgers feature VTuber Gawr Gura

The Dodgers hosted hololive night at Dodger Stadium on Friday and welcomed virtual YouTubers (VTubers) Gawr Gura, Hoshimachi Suisei and Usada Pekora.

The trio announced “It’s Time for Dodger Baseball” before first pitch, and Gura sang “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the seventh inning stretch.
