Dodgers Highlights: Gavin Lux & Shohei Ohtani Deliver Clutch Hits Against Giants

The Los Angeles Dodgers hung on to defeat the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night with Gavin Lux and Shohei Ohtani leading the way in a 5-2 win.

With the victory the Dodgers remained undefeated since the All-Star break and extended their winning streak to five games.

Lux continued to build off his National League Player of the Week honors by providing the Dodgers with an early lead on his two-run double in the first inning. Lux finished 2-for-4 and has multiple hits in three of his last five games.

“It’s been great,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Lux’s recent uptick in production. “I think he’s been finally having less sleepless nights. Each day he comes in there’s a little bit more confidence. I appreciate what he’s doing. He’s swinging the bat as well as he has in quite some time.”

Ohtani extended the Dodgers’ lead in the fourth inning on a two-run double of his own. That snapped a streak of being hitless with four strikeouts in the Giants series up to that point.

Ohtani later added an RBI single in the eighth inning to put the Dodgers ahead 5-1. His line drive into center field had a 114 mph exit velocity as Ohtani continues to be a Statcast maven.

Alex Vesia struggled in the ninth inning and allowed a run before being removed. Evan Phillips inherited two runners on and issued a walk to load the bases before closing out the win.

Shohei Ohtani t-shirt giveaway

The Dodgers unveiled the design of the Shohei Ohtani t-shirt giveaway at Dodger Stadium, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21.

The Ohtani shirt features him in a celebratory pose with his right fist raised. The first 40,000 ticketed fans in attendance will receive the Ohtani t-shirt while supplies last at their point of entry.
