Dodgers Highlights: Gavin Lux & Jason Heyward Homer In Comeback Win Vs. Mariners

The Los Angeles Dodgers overcame a three-run deficit to claw out a 6-3 win against the Seattle Mariners, buoyed by Jason Heyward providing the go-ahead home run in the eighth inning. It represented their 30th comeback win of the season.

The Dodgers now are in position to complete a series sweep on Wednesday despite having scored seven of their nine runs through the first two games in the seventh and eighth innings.

While Walker Buehler again labored through a start, he managed to hold the Mariners to three runs. Gavin Lux started the Dodgers’ comeback in the fourth inning with a solo home run.

The homer was Lux’s second in as many games and seventh since the All-Star break.

Max Muncy also provided a jolt with his second home run of the series. Muncy is playing for the first time since coming off a lengthy stint on the 60-day injured list because of a right oblique strain and rib issue.

The Dodgers continued to trail until Tommy Edman’s leadoff double in the seventh inning helped provide a spark. Mookie Betts ultimately drove him in with a one-out double. Teoscar Hernández appeared to give the Dodgers a lead with a two-out base hit but Mitch Haniger made a terrific throw to nab Betts at the plate.

The game remained tied before Heyward took advantage of his pinch-hit opportunity with a three-run homer.

Dodgers roster decision

Heyward’s clutch home run comes as the Dodgers face a roster crunch to decide between Kevin Kiermaier, Kiké Hernández, Chris Taylor, Heyward and potentially Andy Pages for their bench.
