Dodgers Highlights: Freddie Freeman Receives World Series Ring, Trea Turner & Justin Turner Leads Offense In Win Over Braves

The Los Angeles Dodgers were led by Trea Turner as they defeated the Atlanta Braves, 4-1, to extend their winning streak to four games on what was an emotional night for Freddie Freeman.

Friday marked Freeman’s first time back in Atlanta since signing a six-year contract with the Dodgers. That in itself made it difficult to remain composed, but Freeman also received his 2021 World Series ring from Braves manager Brian Snitker before first pitch.

He thanked the Braves fans in attendance, who in turn gave Freeman a standing ovation before his first at-bat that lasted more than one minute. Freeman went on to reach base three times and score two runs.

Will Smith’s RBI single and Justin Turner’s sacrifice fly in the first inning gave the Dodgers an early lead that they rode to a win.

Braves starter Ian Anderson minimized the damage and settled in until allowing a leadoff home run to Trea Turner in the fifth inning. Justin Turner later beat out a would-be inning-ending double play to collect his second RBI of the game.

That wound up being it for the Dodgers, but Julio Urías and their bullpen held the Braves quiet. Urías allowed three hits, two of which were soft contact, and collected nine strikeouts over six innings.

The Braves’ lone run came on a Matt Olson sacrifice fly off Urías in the sixth inning.

Dodgers injuries mounting

Prior to the game the Dodgers placed Andrew Heaney on the 15-day injured list due to a left shoulder strain. Then in the eighth inning, Daniel Hudson suffered what the team believes is a torn ACL in his left knee.

Hudson is scheduled to undergo an MRI, which if it confirms a torn ACL, will end his season.
