Dodgers Highlights: Freddie Freeman, Teoscar Hernández & Shohei Ohtani Lead Comeback Against Tigers

The Los Angeles Dodgers received another short outing from their starter and the offense continued to sputter until the late innings Friday night of a 4-3 comeback win against the Detroit Tigers to snap a four-game losing streak.

James Paxton struggled early and allowed the Tigers to take a 3-0 lead through two innings. He was chased with two outs in the fourth, but the Dodgers bullpen rose to the occasion to keep Detroit at bay for the remainder of the game.

That bought time for the offense to slowly chip away at the deficit, which began with Freddie Freeman’s solo home run in the fourth inning. Freeman’s homer broke up Tarik Skubal’s no-hitter in what was another impressive performance from the left-hander.

Andy Pages, who had another rough game defensively in center field, contributed with an RBI single in the fourth to get the Dodgers within 3-2.

They continued to trail into the eighth inning before Will Smith’s two-out single started a rally. Freeman’s base hit put runners at the corners and Teoscar Hernández found a hole on the right side for a game-tying RBI single.

Singles by Chris Taylor and pinch-hitter Austin Barnes helped set the table in the ninth inning for Shohei Ohtani to provide the Dodgers with a lead on his game-winning, ground-rule RBI double.

Next for Dodgers

The Dodgers now look to clinch a series win Saturday with prospect Justin Wrobleski making his second career start. The Dodgers then figure to rely on a bullpen game Sunday for their final matchup before the All-Star break.
