The Los Angeles Dodgers began their last home series of the 2019 regular season with a win on Friday night as their bats came alive, resulting in a 12-5 rout of the Colorado Rockies.

Though, it was the Rockies who jumped out to an early lead after scoring three runs off Clayton Kershaw in the first two innings. The Dodgers got a run back in the bottom of the second when Cody Bellinger doubled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Chris Taylor.

It wasn’t until the bottom of the fourth that the Dodgers bats broke it open, but they did it in a big way by scoring seven runs in the inning. Corey Seager got the rally started with a leadoff home run, his 17th of the season.

Will Smith, Kiké Hernandez and Max Muncy all contributed with run-scoring singles, but the big hit of the inning was a three-run home run off the bat of A.J. Pollock.

His blast to straightaway center was his 15th of the season and sixth off a left-handed pitcher as he has been one of the league’s best hitters against southpaws. The scoring picked up again in the bottom of the seventh as the Dodgers tacked on four more runs to effectively put the game out of reach.

Taylor led off the inning with a double in the gap and scored shortly after on an RBI single by Gavin Lux. Hernandez later drove in Lux with another RBI base hit and then Muncy capped off the rally with a two-run double into the gap.

Kershaw’s outing got off to a rough start, but he wound up settling in to get through six innings while allowing eight hits and four runs with five strikeouts and one walk. Kershaw earned his 15th victory in what was his final regular-season start at Dodger Stadium this year.

The win also put the 2019 Dodgers in the record books as it was their 58th at home. That set a new record, which previously was held by the 2017 team. They additionally have now scored 844 runs this season, which broke the L.A. franchise record (842 in 1962).
