The Los Angeles Dodgers continued with what’s been a successful road trip, shutting out the Arizona Diamondbacks, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon to take three out of four games at Chase Field.

It didn’t take long for the Dodgers to get on the scoreboard as Justin Turner singled with two outs in the first inning, setting the table for Cody Bellinger. Back in the lineup after a night off, Bellinger lined a two-run home run to right field.

The reigning National League MVP also had a nice day defensively, tracking down a ball in deep center field to seal the victory in the ninth inning.

Bellinger wasn’t the only MVP to have a good day for the Dodgers as Mookie Betts also went deep, hitting a solo shot into the pool in right-center at Chase Field in the fifth inning for his second of the season.

Betts also had a double in the game, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate before being removed in the seventh inning due to a finger injury. The injury comes at an unfortunate time as Betts was just heating up at the dish, going 7-for-15 with three doubles, two home runs and three RBI in the series.

Kershaw dazzles in season debut

The Dodgers had a third MVP on the field in Sunday’s series finale as Clayton Kershaw got the start on the mound. It marked his season debut after missing the first couple weeks due to lower back soreness.

Kershaw looked as healthy as ever as his velocity was up to 93 mph for the first time in a couple of seasons, and he began his outing with three perfect innings.

The left-hander was in cruise control pretty much all day, getting through 5.2 innings of work while allowing just three hits and no runs with six strikeouts and no walks on 81 pitches to earn his first victory of the season.

L.A.’s starting rotation has struggled to go deep into gets early this season, so getting six innings out of Julio Urias and then 5.2 out of Kershaw the last two games was a huge positive.
