The Los Angeles Dodgers extended their winning streak to five games on Wednesday night, defeating the Texas Rangers, 3-1, to also earn a two-game sweep.
All three of the Dodgers’ runs came on solo homer, with the first coming off the bat of Cody Bellinger in the third inning. He took Rangers starter Mike Minor deep to straightaway center field for his 21st home run of the season.
Manny Machado has been driving in runs at a rapid pace the last few games, and he continued that in the fourth inning when he hit his 32nd home run of the year. Machado now has 10 RBI in his last four games.

The final home run of the night gave the Dodgers needed insurance in the eighth inning when Yasmani Grandal took Rangers reliever Alex Claudio deep. The home run was just Grandal’s third this season from the right side of the plate.

All of those home runs were in support of Alex Wood, who turned in one of his best starts of the season. Wood tossed seven shutout innings, giving up just four hits while striking out five and walking two.
After another rough outing on Tuesday night, Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen was not available to close out Wednesday’s win. So it was Kenta Maeda that earned his first save of the season, although it did not come easy as he gave up a run in the process.
So nice of @Cody_Bellinger to give those fans a souvenir. pic.twitter.com/0lx60JKIH8
