The Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2022 National League West title by defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday and they are so far the only team in MLB to have clinched a postseason spot.
By clinching in the 141st game of the season, the 2022 Dodgers became the fastest team to win the division since the franchise moved from Brooklyn.
The L.A. franchise record was previously held by the 2019 Dodgers that won the NL West in the 146th game of the year, while the 1955 Brooklyn team holds the all-time Dodgers franchise record by clinching the pennant in 138 games.
The Dodgers celebrated with the usual beer and champagne in the clubhouse, but they did not end up having a pool party like they did after winning the NL West at Chase Field in 2013.

Already at 98-43 with nearly a month left to play, the Dodgers are also on pace to break their all-time wins record set by the 2019 and 2021 teams. The 2022 club is on pace to win 111 games.
The division title is the team’s ninth in 10 seasons, and the only year they didn’t win was their franchise-record winning season in 2021 when the San Francisco Giants finished with 107 wins to knock them off their throne.
It has been a truly remarkable decade for the Dodgers, and they earned their celebration in historic fashion.
Sheriffs protect pool after Dodgers clinch
Local Sheriffs officials protected the Chase Field pool as the Dodgers began to celebrate their latest NL West title. The players never made their way out of the clubhouse, so it’s possible the law enforcement officials were on hand to prevent fans from jumping into the pool as well.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and Clayton Kershaw both previously brushed aside the notion that the team would repeat their pool celebration upon clinching.
