The Los Angeles Dodgers earned a walk-off victory over the Colorado Rockies for a second consecutive night, with both coming of the home run. On Saturday, it was Alex Verdugo who delivered a game-winner to complete a 5-4 comeback at Dodger Stadium.
Saturday night’s win required extra innings as the division rivals remained tied at four all the way up until the 11th inning.
After Joc Pederson popped up to begin the bottom of the inning, Verdugo launched a walk-off homer to right field.
The walk-off was the second on the season for Verdugo, as he previously sent the Dodgers home as winners on a sacrifice fly against the New York Mets on a sacrifice fly last month. The Dodgers as a team now have four walk-off home runs on the season, with three coming from rookies.
Matt Beaty did so to beat the Rockies 24 hours before Verdugo, while Will Smith defeated the Philadelphia Phillies a couple of weeks ago, and another was delivered by Pederson against the Cincinnati Reds in April.
Overall, L.A. has five walk-off victories this year and now lead the National League West by a whopping 12 games.

The 11th-inning home run wasn’t Verdugo’s only of the game as he also hit a solo shot in the bottom of the fifth inning off Rockies starter Peter Lambert. Verdugo isn’t known for power, but he now has seven homers on the season and three in his last eight games.
Additionally, the four-hit game was a career first for Verdugo.

Verdugo wasn’t the only Dodger to come up with a clutch hit, as Friday night’s hero, Beaty, also came up big. With Los Angeles trailing 4-3 and two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, Beaty blooped an RBI single into left field to tie the game.
