Led by Bobby Miller and Trea Turner, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the L.A. Angels 5-0 in the final game of the exhibition Freeway Series and the last contest of 2022 Spring Training.
Dodgers third base coach Dino Ebel was mic’d up throughout the game and provided his commentary on SportsNet LA while fulfilling his regular duties on the field and in the dugout.
Miller’s first pitch of the game was a 100.2 mph fastball to Shohei Ohtani. The reigning American League MVP worked the count full before being called out on strikes as Miller pinpointed another triple-digits fastball.
Entering the game, Miller planned to match the competitiveness of a tough Angels lineup while still respecting their abilities to beat him on any pitch.
The Dodgers’ top pitching prospect threw three scoreless innings in his Dodger Stadium debut, getting credit for the win as the offense quickly gave the right-hander a lead to work with.

Turner drove in the first two runs with a double in the first inning and Max Muncy’s RBI extra-base hit in the third extended the lead.
The Dodgers’ offense went quiet until Chris Taylor provided insurance with a two-run homer in the seventh inning. The home run was Taylor’s first of Spring Training.
Manager Dave Roberts gave the ball to Craig Kimbrel at the end of the game, who was also making his home debut at Dodger Stadium. Although it wasn’t a save situation with a five-run lead, Kimbrel looked sharp as he retired the Angels in order while picking up two strikeouts to secure the victory.
Opening Day for the Dodgers
With Spring Training now wrapped up, the Dodgers have two off days before facing the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field for Opening Day on Friday, April 8.
Walker Buehler starts the season opener the Dodgers, but beyond that the team has yet to decide the order of their rotation.
