Although Spring Training is underway for all 30 teams, several players who went into the offseason as Los Angeles Dodgers free agents remain available. Chief among them are J.D. Martinez, Kiké Hernández, Amed Rosario and David Peralta.

The Dodgers reportedly had interest in re-signing Martinez, but it was contingent on how their pursuit of Shohei Ohtani unfolded. That culminated with the Dodgers signing Ohtani to a record-breaking 10-year, $700 million contract, solidifying the designated hitter spot in their lineup.

Meanwhile, Hernández and Rosario have both been linked to multiple teams throughout the offseason.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Los Angeles Angels have interest in Rosario and Hernández:

But they are also looking at depth pieces and are said to be considering former Met Amed Rosario, Kiké Hernandez, and a solid back-end starter like Lorenzen, an Orange County and Cal-State Fullerton product who may like the idea of going home.

The Toronto Blue Jays reportedly had interest in Rosario but instead signed Isiah Kiner-Falefa. The Miami Marlins have also been speculated as a fit.

Rosario spent last season with the Cleveland Guardians and Dodgers, and despite some questions surrounding his defensive ability, is one of the top middle infielders available in free agency.

That also applies to Hernández, who enjoyed a bit of a resurgence after getting traded to the Dodgers at the 2023 deadline. But amid an overall drop in production the past two years, Hernández hinted at expecting somewhat of a challenging free agency process compared to when he reached the open market after the 2020 season.

The situation for Hernández and Rosario has been further exacerbated by an overall sluggish market this offseason.

Kiké Hernández wants to re-sign with Dodgers?

The Angels’ have held interest in Hernández for multiple weeks, but reportedly held a belief his preference was to re-sign with the Dodgers.

Hernández returning to the Dodgers doesn’t appear to be a likely outcome given their roster crunch and Manuel Margot being acquired as part of their trade for Tyler Glasnow.
