Los Angeles Dodgers free agent Clayton Kershaw, through the Kershaw’s Challenge foundation, is gathering essential supplies to distribute to families affected by the active wildfires in Southern California.

For those who want to contribute, Kershaw included an Amazon wish list of items he is planning to donate. Among them are batteries, hand sanitizer wipes and meal prep containers.

Firefighters are currently battling blazes in Pacific Palisades, Altadena/Pasadena, West Hills, Sylmar, Acton (Antelope Valley) and Granada Hills.

Kershaw is among a long list of Dodgers who have joined wildfire relief efforts. Freddie Freeman and his wife Chelsea are donating a grand total of $300,000 to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Pasadena Fire Department and Salvation Army.

Chris Taylor and his wife Mary, through their CT3 Foundation, were matching donations up to $5,000 in order to help the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.

The Dodgers, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Lakers, Angel City Football Club, Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Angels, LAFC, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Galaxy, Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Sparks, pledged a donation of more than $8 million to support victims in need, as well as those fighting the Southern California wildfires.

Dodgers event for L.A. wildfires

Along with the financial contribution, the Dodgers and Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation — in addition to the other 11 L.A. Sports teams and their foundations — partnered with Fanatics and the Fanatics Foundation to distribute $3 million worth of the brand’s merchandise to Angelenos who have been evacuated from their homes.

In addition to the apparel items being donated by Fanatics, teams are collectively contributed thousands of items that will be given out at three upcoming events on Friday, Jan. 17.

Clayton Kershaw expected to re-sign

While Kershaw remains a free agent and is again recovering from offseason surgery, the expectation is he will re-sign with the Dodgers at some point prior to the 2025 season beginning.
