Dodgers Free Agent Blake Treinen Open To ‘Any Type’ Of Contract To Re-Sign

While much of the focus has centered around Teoscar Hernández, the current group of Los Angeles Dodgers free agents also includes fellow key contributors Blake Treinen, Kiké Hernández and Walker Buehler.

Clayton Kershaw is on the open market as well, but he’s made clear of an intention to re-sign with the Dodgers. Teoscar Hernández, Flaherty and Kiké Hernández have expressed similar sentiments.

Despite continued interest and involvement in the Juan Soto sweepstakes, the Dodgers are said to be close to reaching an agreement with Teoscar Hernández.

Meanwhile, Treinen has joined the growing list of Dodgers free agents who wish to remain with the team.

During an appearance on the “Foul Territory” show with Alanna Rizzo, Erik Kratz and Trevor May, Treinen said he would gladly re-sign with the Dodgers:

“I will never speak poorly about the Dodgers. I obviously would welcome, with open arms, any type of deal to bring me back there.”

Treinen’s 2024 debut was delayed because of a lung/rib injury sustained during Spring Training, but the veteran ended up enjoying one of his best seasons ever after missing all of 2023 while recovering from right shoulder surgery.

Treinen went 7-3 with one save, a 1.93 ERA, 2.99 FIP and 0.94 WHIP across 50 appearances this year. He then was part of a strong collective effort by the Dodgers bullpen in the playoffs, going 2-0 with three saves, a 2.19 ERA and 18 strikeouts over 12.1 innings pitched across nine appearances.

Treinen’s best performance was his last, as he threw 2.1 scoreless innings against the New York Yankees in Game 5 of the World Series to help the Dodgers clinch the eighth title in franchise history.

Blake Treinen interest?

MLB free agency has yet to truly heat up for relief pitchers so far this offseason. Aroldis Chapman, who like Treinen is 36 years old, helped establish the market by signing with the Boston Red Sox for one year at a $10.75 million salary.

There has not been teams publicly connected to Treinen, though it’s presumed the Dodgers have interest in re-signing him.
