The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a series sweep of the San Francisco Giants on a rainy Sunday night at Oracle Park, finishing 15-4 against their longtime rival this season.

That set a Dodgers franchise record for most wins against the Giants in a single season since the team moved from Brooklyn. It’s a notable turnaround from last year when the Giants won 10 of 19 games and edged the Dodgers to snap their streak of National League West titles.

The all-time Dodgers record is held by the 1940 Brooklyn team that went 16-5 against the New York Giants. Prior to this season, the L.A. Dodgers franchise record was shared by the 1977 and 1979 teams that both were 14-4 against San Francisco.

In terms of winning percentage in head-to-head meetings with the Giants, this year’s .789 clip is second-best all-time in Dodgers franchise history. The 1899 Brooklyn Superbas had an .833 winning percentage (10-2) against New York.

Much of the success the 2022 Dodgers had against the Giants came after being swept in a three-game series at Oracle Park from June 10-12. After that point, the Dodgers won the next seven games in the Giants’ home ballpark and went 13-1 when factoring in head-to-head matchups at Dodger Stadium as well.

This past weekend’s series also saw the Dodgers become the first team to 100 wins this season, a feat they have now accomplished 10 times in franchise history.

Of the 100-win seasons, four have come in the past six years. Included in that stretch was the 2019 Dodgers setting a franchise record with 106 wins, which was then tied last year. This season’s team is on pace to win a franchise-record 113 games.

Dodgers road wins record

Continued success against the Giants helped L.A. set a franchise record for most road wins in a single season at 52. They can continue adding onto that during a three-game series at Petco Park from Sept. 27-29.
