Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Donated To Wildfire Relief On Behalf Of Shohei Ohtani

On April 2, the Los Angeles Dodgers honored Shohei Ohtani’s 2024 season with an MVP bobblehead giveaway to all fans in attendance at the game.

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) also did their part to recognize Ohtani with the use of their 50/50 raffle. Their proceeds from the raffle were dedicated on behalf of Ohtani to families rebuilding after the devastating Eaton and Palisades fires from earlier in the year.

Ohtani was among those who had to evacuate earlier in the year due to the fires.

The 50/50 raffle totaled $78,100 during the game, so $39,050 was raised for the rebuilding efforts while the other half went to one lucky fan who purchased a raffle ticket.

The winning ticket number was 74644690036.

The LADF 50/50 raffle allows fans to support their communities while offering them a chance to win big cash prizes. For each Dodgers home game, one fan wins half of the net proceeds, with the other half of the net proceeds benefiting the foundation’s programs and grantmaking.

From the time the gates open until the end of the seventh inning, fans may obtain raffle tickets from stationary kiosks located throughout the concourses at Dodger Stadium and from dedicated raffle sellers.

LADF works to address the most pressing problems facing Los Angeles with a mission to improve education, health care, homelessness and social justice for all Angelenos.

In the same week, Will and Cara Smith through their Catching Hope Foundation partnered with LADF to beautify learning spaces and improve reading proficiency and interest among young Angelenos.

The Smiths joined students at Manhattan Place Elementary in Los Angeles to launch the 2025 LA Reads program and Dodgers Reading Champions challenge, as well as unveil the second of three World Series Legacy projects.

Smith has served as an ambassador of the LA Reads program for the last two seasons. He and Cara will host Manhattan Place Elementary at their Catching Hope Community Clinic at Dodger Stadium in May.

Shohei Ohtani bobblehead night

Even as the Atlanta Braves took a 5-0 lead against the Dodgers in the series finale, the night still ended with heroics from Ohtani on his bobblehead night.

With one out in the ninth inning of a tie game, Ohtani stepped to the plate with an opportunity to again deliver in a key moment.

Ohtani got that pitch, and it was the first one he saw. He blasted it over the center field wall for a walk-off homer, giving the Dodgers their eight consecutive win to begin the year.

“I’m just grateful as a player to be able to perform during an opportunity like this,” Ohtani said through interpreter Will Ireton.
