The Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs drew plenty of attention over the past week, from the moment both teams arrived in Japan through playing the Tokyo Series to begin the 2025 regular season.
Exhibition games at the Tokyo Dome and the Tokyo Series saw celebrities, current and former players in attendance. For Wednesday’s game, that group included Holly Robinson Peete and her husband, Rodney Peete.
One of the Peete’s sons, RJ, is a Dodgers clubhouse attendant.
The couple was sitting in the second row down the third-base line and unexpectedly found themselves all over social media because of a foul ball hit to their area.
Some slick glove work by @RodneyPeete9! Looked like Muncy whiffed and the inning ended, so no harm no foul haha.
But @hollyrpeete looked mad getting on the phone 😂 pic.twitter.com/1mNPdxFwLO

Max Muncy was tracking the flight of the pop-up and reached into the stands in effort to make the catch. His glove hit the protective netting and it wound up being Rodney Peete who made the catch.
Rodney posed after the impressive play, though Holly didn’t appear as pleased. She told DodgerBlue.com her reaction was out of some embarrassment over the sequence.
I was embarrassed but just glad we got out of that inning with no runs Max gave us the stink eye but that ball was coming for my head 😬😬😬

During an appearance on AM 570 L.A. Sports Radio, Rodney said he initially did worry about being perceived like Steve Bartman, who infamously took a likely catch away from former Cubs outfielder Moisés Alou.
The glove also had been provided by the Tokyo Dome, in addition to helmets and warning signs for fans to be aware of potential foul balls and broken bats going into sections of the stands that are close to the field and not behind a high protective netting.
Fortunately for the Rodneys, nothing came of the play. Landon Knack got through the sixth inning without incident and the Dodgers went on for a 6-3 win to complete a Tokyo Series sweep.
Rodney Peete played baseball at USC
Peete, who co-hosts the “Roggin and Rodney” show on AM 570 with Fred Roggin, previously starred as a quarterback at USC before enjoying a 15-year NFL career.
What was not as known is Peete additionally played baseball during his time at USC.
