Dodgers Roster: Chuckie Robinson Claimed Off Waivers

The Los Angeles Dodgers claimed Chuckie Robinson off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels and transferred Tyler Glasnow to the 60-day injured list in order to make room on their 40-man roster for the catcher.

Robinson was designated for assignment on Wednesday as part of multiple roster moves. Tim Anderson also was DFA’d and has been subsequently released from the Angels organization.

Robinson was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 21st round of the 2016 MLB Draft. Robinson went on to make his mLB debut with the Cincinnati Reds in 2022 and also spent time up in the Majors with the Chicago White Sox.

The 30-year-old has appeared in 51 career games, batting a combined .132/.170/.194 with two doubles, two home runs and five RBI during that span. While he’s yet to make much of an impact with his bat, Robinson boasts a .992 fielding percentage.

Robinson had spent the entire 2025 season thus far with Triple-A Salt Lake City, where he hit .272/.315/.388 with five doubles, two triples, one home run and 18 RBI over 27 games.

Why did the Dodgers claim Chuckie Robinson?

Robinson figures to spend the majority of his time with Triple-A Oklahoma City, where Hunter Feduccia and Chris Okey have been the primary catchers. Feduccia has also played some first base and often been a designated hitter for the Comets.

Robinson gives the Dodgers more organizational depth at the catching position and in the form of someone with MLB experience. He doesn’t figure to join their active roster unless there is an injury and the team decides on more of a short-term solution rather than Feduccia.

Though, the Dodgers previously recalled Feduccia earlier this season when Freddie Freeman was placed on the 10-day injured list. If Feduccia again is to join the Dodgers at some point, Robinson would help ensure Oklahoma City is not short on available catchers.
