Brock Stewart’s Left Foot Injury Not ‘Responding’ To Treatment

The Los Angeles Dodgers are dealing with a rash of pitching injuries, with Edwin Díaz, Evan Phillips and Brock Stewart among those currently sidelined.

Phillips is working his way back from last year’s Tommy John surgery, while Stewart had his season interrupted by a bone spur in his left foot and Díaz is recovering after having loose bodies removed from his right elbow.

Phillips and Stewart both faced hitters at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, but are seemingly headed in opposite directions. Phillips is nearing the start of a rehab assignment, while Stewart’s foot hasn’t made much progress.

“Both came out of it well. They both came out of it fine,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Phillips and Stewart.

“I think Evan will do another live or two, and then potentially go out on assignment. I think Brock was good. The foot is just not totally responding and kind of back, so that’s kind of the thing that’s holding us back a little bit.”

When Stewart was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier this month, the Dodgers anticipated his absence extending beyond the minimum amount of time.

“I think probably three weeks is fair,” Roberts said when first asked for a timeline regarding Stewart’s return. “I don’t think it will be just the two weeks and then he’s back. In a couple weeks we’ll know more, but I don’t think it will be after the two-week mark.”

The main course of treatment for Stewart’s foot injury has been rest. The 34-year-old at this point is not expected to undergo surgery, but that could change if the issue continues to persist.

Brock Stewart’s 2026 season

Stewart made only two appearances with the Dodgers prior to landing back on the IL. He missed the start of the year while recovering from last year’s right shoulder surgery.

A decision for surgery was made after a failed comeback attempt in time for the postseason. It was a disappointing development for the right-hander, who has battled multiple injuries throughout his career.

Stewart completed a lengthy rehab assignment prior to rejoining the Dodgers that saw him log 6.1 scoreless innings and strike out 13 batters in eight appearances.

The shoulder trouble and now bone spur have limited Stewart to just six appearances for the Dodgers since being acquired from the Minnesota Twins at the trade deadline in 2025.
