Dodgers Broadcasters Stephen Nelson & José Mota Calling 2023 World Baseball Classic Games

Los Angeles Dodgers broadcasters Stephen Nelson and José Mota are forming a tandem to call 2023 World Classic Games for Pool B in Japan. Nelson and Mota are part of the MLB Network broadcasting teams for WBC viewers outside the United States.

Tyler Maun and Ryan Rowland-Smith are calling World Baseball Classic Games for Pool A, Rich Waltz and Buck Martinez are working Pool B games, and Dave Flemming and Yonder Alonso have Pool D.

Nelson is heading into his first season as a Dodgers broadcaster, and joins them after serving as the co-host of “Intentional Talk” on MLB Network.

Nelson is expected to call more than 50 home and road games for SportsNet LA this season.

“It’s impossible to convey the emotions that come with this opportunity,” he said at the time of being hired. “This isn’t simply coming home. This isn’t simply being an announcer for a professional sports team. This is The Los Angeles Dodgers.

“It’s the best organization in baseball for so many reasons and I can’t wait to be a tiny part of it and its best-in-class production team. Growing up in Southern California, like so many Angelenos, I enjoyed a front-row seat to broadcast greatness with Vin, Jaime, Chick, Bob Miller and others.

“That tradition has continued with Joe Davis. To work with and learn from somebody that has become a friend in recent years is special. This is an honor and blessing that I’ll work tirelessly to earn.”

Mota was added to the Dodgers broadcast team for the 2022 season, and he’s now primed to take on a larger role with Jaime Jarrín retired.

Mota joined the Dodgers after abruptly re-signing as a broadcaster with the Los Angeles Angels.
