The Los Angeles Dodgers (100-56) will have the opportunity to beat out the Atlanta Braves for the best record in the National League if they can win two of three games from the San Diego Padres (70-86) in a divisional series starting Tuesday at Petco Park.

The Dodgers are -205 road favorites (bet $205 to win $100) on the MLB odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com for the series opener with lefty Rich Hill on the mound.

Dodgers at Padres | OddsShark Matchup Report

Hill (4-1, 2.68 ERA) has pitched well in limited action this season for Los Angeles. In his only appearance since June 19, he started on the road versus the Baltimore Orioles on Sept. 12 and got just two outs before departing after giving up one run with two walks and two strikeouts. It is anybody’s guess as to how long Hill will go here and who will follow him after he leaves.

For San Diego, rookie right-hander Ronald Bolanos (0-1, 5.79 ERA) will get the nod still searching for his first MLB win. The September call-up has pitched decently in two of his first three starts, but the Padres managed to score one run for him each time out in a pair of road games. Overall, the 23-year-old Cuban prospect has surrendered nine earned runs and 13 hits in 14 innings with seven walks and 11 strikeouts.

The Dodgers have won four of the last five games in this NL West rivalry after dropping four of the previous five in the series, according to the OddsShark MLB Database. The OVER has cashed at sports betting sites in three of the past four as well following a 7-1 run to the UNDER.

The OVER is also on a 4-1 run for Los Angeles overall as the team readies its starting rotation for the postseason. The same cannot be said for San Diego, with the UNDER on a 5-2 run. The Padres have scored two runs or less six times during that stretch.

The Braves are the lone team in the league with a chance to catch the Dodgers for the top seed in the NL playoffs. However, Atlanta will need to win out and see Los Angeles go winless the last week of the season, trailing by 4.5 games with five left.
