The 2025 Los Angeles Dodgers coaching staff under manager Dave Roberts has officially been set, with the most noticeable change being the previously-announced Chris Woodward taking over for Clayton McCullough, who was hired as the new skipper of the Miami Marlins.
Roberts is entering his 10th season as manger of the Dodgers with a career record of 851-506 (.627). The two-time World Series champion has led the Dodgers to four National League Pennants and was named Baseball America’s 2024 Manager of the Year.
McCullough’s departure created a void in terms of working with Dodgers outfielders as that was among his duties in addition to first base coach.
The Dodgers are addressing that by having Dino Ebel expand his role to work with outfielders. Ebel is otherwise entering a seventh season as third base coach for the Dodgers.
Meanwhile, Brandon McDaniel is considered a new addition to the Dodgers coaching staff this season. McDaniel has been elevated from vice president of player performance to Major League development integration coach.
McDaniel is entering his 13th season working with the Dodgers in some capacity at the Major League level. McDaniel last had been promoted from director of player performance (2019-2021) to vice president of player performance entering the 2022 season.
He additionally has held titles of Dodgers’ head strength and conditioning coach (2014-2018), and strength and conditioning coach (2013).
Along with Woodward taking over as first base coach, he is going to work as an infield coaching specialist as well. Woodward previously was a member of the Dodgers coaching staff as third base coach from 2016-2018.
He then was hired as the Texas Rangers manager and returned to the Dodgers organization last season as a senior advisor to Major League and player development.
This is Woodward’s second stint on the coaching staff, having served as the Dodgers’ third-base coach from 2016-2018.
Several returnees round out the Dodgers coaching staff.
Danny Lehmann begins his third season as the club’s bench coach and eighth year overall, having previously been their game planning and communications coach.
Bob Geren, hired by the team shortly after Roberts, enters his 10th season overall and third as Major League field coordinator after seven years as Dodgers bench coach (2016-2022).
Mark Prior enters his sixth season as Dodgers pitching coach and eighth with the organization, after serving as the team’s bullpen coach in 2018 and 2019.
Robert Van Scoyoc begins his seventh season as hitting coach and he’s joined by Aaron Bates, who is starting his seventh season on the coaching staff and third as hitting coach after spending four years as the assistant hitting coach (2019-2022).
Connor McGuiness enters his sixth season as assistant pitching coach while Josh Bard commences his eighth as bullpen coach, including the most recent six years (2016-17, 2020-).
