Dodgers-Angels Sunday Night Game Was Highest-Rated ESPN Regular Season Game
Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim met in the annual Freeway Series at Angel Stadium this past weekend, and as is usually the case between these two teams, all three of the games were close.

The Angels came away with a walk-off victory on Friday night before the Dodgers rebounded with a win on Saturday, setting up a rubber match on Sunday evening.

Although the Dodgers led for most of the game, it was ultimately the Angels that came away with a 4-3 victory when Albert Pujols hit a home run to tie the game in the sixth inning and then Shohei Ohtani hit a game-winning pinch-hit homer in the seventh to earn the Angels a series victory.

Sunday night’s game was a good one, and it appears a lot of fans tuned in to watch as ESPN reported that it was the highest-rated regular season game dating all the way back to when they started recording in 1999, via J.P. Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group:

The two teams will not have to wait long before meeting again with the Angels traveling north for the Dodger Stadium portion of the Freeway Series beginning this Friday.

Saturday’s game of that series will be televised on Fox, while Sunday afternoon, which is the final game before the All-Star break, will be on ESPN+.
