Andy Pages Potentially Relayed Signs In Dodgers’ Comeback Win Over Nationals

The Los Angeles Dodgers erased a five-run deficit to secure an MLB-best fifth comeback win of the season to sweep the Washington Nationals on Sunday.

Trailing 6-3 in the top of the eighth inning, the Dodgers offense quickly went to work against Nationals reliever Cionel Pérez. Freddie Freeman’s leadoff single was followed by an Andy Pages double that put two runners in scoring position to begin the inning.

Alex Call then drew a walk to load the bases for Santiago Espinal, who delivered a two-run single to get the deficit down to one. He may have received some assistance from Pages, who appeared to be relaying signs from second base.

Pérez admitted after the game that he was tipping his pitches and believes Pages picked up on it, but stopped short of deeming that the biggest reason for his struggles.

Pages was involved in another potential pitch-tipping incident during Game 1 of the 2025 National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, when he made gestures to Teoscar Hernández from second base. Pages raised his right arm on both of the pitches Hernández saw before hitting a go-ahead home run.

However, Pages would later deny relying signs to Hernández, and then-Phillies reliever Matt Strahm also refuted the notion that the 25-year-old was picking up on the team’s signals from second base.

Whether he relayed signs or not, Pages undoubtedly played a role in the Dodgers’ comeback win over the Nationals. His double helped set the table for a big eighth inning, which continued with Kyle Tucker tying the game on an RBI groundout and Shohei Ohtani hitting a go-ahead sacrifice fly.

Pages went 1-for-4 with a walk in the contest, extending his hitting streak to six consecutive games. He’s batting an MLB-best .471 with two doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI in nine games so far.

Dodgers offense finding success

After struggling to find consistency at the plate during their first homestand of the season, the Dodgers’ bats tallied 31 runs in their three-game series against the Nationals.

L.A. will look to keep it going when they continue their road trip against the Toronto Blue Jays for a rematch of the 2025 World Series.
