Dodgers Activate Jack Dreyer & Option Paul Gervase

The Los Angeles Dodgers activated Jack Dreyer off the 15-day injured list and optioned Paul Gervase to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Dreyer missed 13 games with left shoulder inflammation after being placed on the IL on May 17. He last pitched on May 15 and felt discomfort while warming up the following night, so the Dodgers were able to backdate his IL stint to May 16.

When Dreyer landed on the injured list, the Dodgers believed he wouldn’t miss much time, and that turned out to be the case.

The left-hander faced batters at Dodger Stadium on Friday, throwing around 20 to 25 pitches and using his entire pitch mix. After that, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Dreyer would not need a rehab assignment and would be activated once he was eligible.

The 27-year-old has a 2-1 record with a 2.08 ERA in 20 games this season, while striking out 28.6% of hitters and walking 7.1%. That has amounted to a 2.42 FIP and 2.74 expected ERA.

Dreyer has struck out 24 batters in 21.2 innings while holding a 0.97 WHIP and has not allowed a run since April 22, tossing 11.1 scoreless innings in that span.

Last season, he went 3-2 with a 2.95 ERA in 67 games with a 1.03 WHIP. He also struck out 24.1% of hitters and walked 7.8% while holding opposing batters to a .198 batting average against.

Dreyer received votes for 2025 National League Rookie of the Year, finishing in ninth place. He picked up one second-place vote and one for fifth place, resulting in four overall points.

Dodgers option Paul Gervase

Gervase pitched in one game during his second stint with the club, tossing two scoreless innings against the Milwaukee Brewers on May 22.

He has made two appearances, throwing five innings with five strikeouts for the Dodgers this season. That has resulted in a 1.80 ERA and 2.26 FIP with a 1.40 WHIP while he has struck out 23.8% of hitters and walked 9.5%.

The 26-year-old has posted a 5.14 ERRA over 14 innings in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League with the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets.

The right-hander has appeared in eight Major League games in his career, posting a 3.38 ERA and 5.88 FIP with 13 strikeouts to eight walks in 13.1 innings, giving him a 1.58 WHIP.

The Dodgers acquired Gervase last season, along with Ben Rortvedt and Adam Serwinowski in a three-way trade with the Tampa Bay Rays and Cincinnati Reds. The Dodgers gave up Hunter Feduccia in the trade.
