The Los Angeles Dodgers announced ahead of Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim that they have activated reliever Dylan Floro and placed Kenta Maeda on paternity leave.
Floro was the first of likely multiple pre-trade deadline acquisitions for the Dodgers. He was recently acquired from the Cincinnati Reds along with Minor League pitcher Zach Neal and international signing bonus pool space in exchange for Minor League pitchers James Marinan and Aneurys Zabala.
Both Floro and Neal are familiar faces to the Dodgers having spent time in the organization. Floro signed with the Reds as a Minor League free agent before this season after being designated for assignment by the Dodgers last fall.
He appeared in 25 games out of the bullpen for the Reds , going 3-2 while posting a 2.72 ERA, 3.33 FIP and 1.40 WHIP with 27 strikeouts and 12 walks in 36.1 innings.
Maeda started Friday night’s game against the Angels, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out nine and walking two in 5.2 innings of work.
Him and his wife welcomed a new child to the world just before Friday’s game, so he will likely be away from the team for a few days before returning to make his next start.
