Dodgers Acquire Seth Halvorsen, Trade Nick Frasso & Landyn Vidourek To Rockies

With the MLB trade deadline less than two weeks away, the Los Angeles Dodgers made their first deal, acquiring Seth Halvorsen from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for Nick Frasso and Landyn Vidourek.

Halvorsen is a right-handed reliever with plus-stuff, but lacks command, making him similar to many of the reclamation projects the Dodgers like to target.

He has thrown 19 innings this season with a 4.74 ERA, 5.73 FIP and 1.95 WHIP while striking out 17.7% of hitters and walking 15.6%. He was also ineffective last season in 39.2 innings, posting a 4.99 ERA and 5.20 FIP, but did record 11 saves and four holds after getting some high-leverage chances.

His first career save came on Sept. 21, 2024, against the Dodgers.

The Halvorsen of 2024 is the one the Dodgers hope to bring back. During his first season, he posted a 1.46 ERA while striking out 28.3% of hitters and walking 4.3%, albeit over a limited sample of 12.1 innings.

The 26-year-old throws a fastball that averages 98.8 mph while also mixing in a slider and splitter. In 2025, Halvorsen threw a 103.3-mph fastball, setting a Rockies record for the fastest pitch.

Opposing players hit just .143 with a .190 slugging percentage against his slider, so the Dodgers may look to increase his usage of that pitch.

With Triple-A this season, Halvorsen posted a 2.04 ERA in 17.2 innings while striking out 24 hitters.

He is currently on a rehab assignment after dealing with right shoulder inflammation. Halvorsen is expected to report to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Dodgers trade Nick Frasso and Landyn Vidourek

To add Halvorsen, the Dodgers traded two prospects to Colorado in Frasso and Vidourek.

Frasso has been with the Dodgers since Aug. 2, 2022, when he was acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays in a deal for Mitch White. Frassso went on to become a highly regarded pitching prospect, but underwent right labral surgery in Nov. 2023 and has struggled to find much success since.

Frasso was non-tendered and became a free agent during the offseason, but re-signed on a Minor League deal. He was added to the 40-man roster in June due to his upward mobility clause.

Frasso has posted a 4.74 ERA in 24.2 innings for Oklahoma City this year, striking out 35.1% of hitters but walking 14.9%.

With Frasso heading back to Colorado, it makes room on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster for Halvorsen.

Vidourek is the more intriguing of the two players sent to Colorado as he’s ranked among the Dodgers’ top-25 prospects. MLB Pipeline has him at No. 25, while Fangraphs placed him No. 22.

The 22-year-old has plus raw power and speed, but a below-average hit tool. He has played in 22 games with Single-A Ontario this season, hitting .170/.332/.311 with six home runs, 39 runs scored, 24 RBI and nine stolen bases.

The outfielder was the Dodgers’ third round pick in 2025 and signed for $552,750 out of Cincinnati.
