Dodgers Acquire Dylan Floro, Zach Neal And International Signing Money From Reds For 2 Minor Leaguers

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Wednesday that they have acquired pitcher Dylan Floro, Minor League pitcher Zach Neal and international signing bonus pool space from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for Minor League pitchers James Marinan and Aneurys Zabala.

In order to make room for Floro on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers designated pitcher Daniel Corcino for assignment.

Both Floro and Neal are familiar faces to the Dodgers having spent time in the organization. Floro signed with the Reds as a Minor League free agent last fall and the Dodgers traded Neal to Cincinnati earlier this season after he was designated for assignment.

Floro is having a nice season for the Reds coming out of their bullpen. He has appeared in 25 games, going 3-2 with a 2.72 ERA, 3.33 FIP and 1.40 WHIP while striking out 27 and walking 12 in 36.1 innings. He will likely be the first of multiple additions to the Dodger bullpen before the trade deadline.

Neal has pitched in 18 games (three starts) with Triple-A Lousiville since being traded to Cincinnati, posting a 5.90 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 23 strikeouts and three walks in 39.2 innings.

Of the two prospects the Dodgers gave up, Marinan is more highly regarded. The 19-year-old was a fourth-round draft pick of the Dodgers in 2017 and has a 2.53 ERA in 10.2 innings so far playing for the Dodgers Arizona Rookie League team.

The Dodgers acquired Zabala in a trade with the Seattle Mariners last year, and in 24 games with Low-A Great Lakes this season, he has pitched to a 4.86 ERA and 1.51 WHIP.

Floro has not been added to the 25-man roster yet, so another roster move will need to be made for that to happen either before Wednesday’s game or on Friday.
