The Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to terms with 15 of their 18 selections from the 2024 MLB Draft, including all players selected in the first 10 rounds.
The class is headlined by Kellon Lindsey, who was selected with the 23rd overall pick in the 2024 Draft. The Florida native was ranked as the 29th overall prospect on MLB Pipeline, slashing .403/.567/597 with nine extra-base hits and 15 RBI in 25 games this season at Hardee High School in Wauchula, Florida.
The 18-year-old Lindsey is graded with a 75 run on the 20-80 scale, which has drawn some comparisons to All-Star Trea Turner. However, that is a best case scenario and there are questions about his hit tool.
Still, the Dodgers believe they can help him unlock the next part of his game, and the former quarterback rose up draft boards after committing to baseball full-time.
The terms of his deal were not announced, but it’s reported the Dodgers were able to get him for an underslot deal, as expected.
In total, the Dodger 2024 signings feature four infielders, two outfielders and nine pitchers. They were focused on getting potential impact players for the future, rather than finding anyone who could be short-term help.
Chase Harlan is the other big-name get for the Dodgers. A power-hitting third baseman with solid but unspectacular athleticism and the potential to improve his hit tool.
In his senior year of high school, Harlan hit .382/.506/.750 over 89 plate appearances with eight doubles, one triple, five home runs, 23 runs batted in, 22 runs scored and 16 walks to only five strikeouts.
In addition, the Dodgers also agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Logan Tabelling from the University of Illinois, left-handed pitcher Myles Caba from the University of Miami and catcher Gio Cuetoo from Stetson University, who all signed as undrafted free agents.
Shortstop Erik Parker (15th round), outfielder Chase Williams (19th round) and left-handed pitcher Hunter Elliott (20th) remain unsigned. The draft signing deadline is Thursday, August 1.
