While the Los Angeles Dodgers need to assemble a coaching staff under newly minted manager Dave Roberts and round out their roster, details of the 2016 schedule are slowly coming together.
The Dodgers open the season on Monday, April 4, 2016, in San Diego against the Padres, in a game that will be televised nationally by ESPN.
From there, the Dodgers head north to play four with the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park before their first home game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday, April 12.
As for the Dodgers’ 2016 promotional schedule, which was unveiled Wednesday, it features 10 bobblehead giveaways, collectable pins giveaways, a Justin Turner Chia Pet (April 30), and Vin Scully t-shirt (May 10), among several other items.
Along with the Turner Chia Pet and Scully t-shirt, new giveaways for 2016 include a travel pillow, Father’s Day Dodger boxers and a socks giveaway. Friday Night Fireworks and Viva Los Dodgers, held prior to every Sunday home game, return next season.
Fans in attendance will receive an adult replica Jackie Robinson jersey when the Dodgers host the Giants on Jackie Robinson Day (April 15). Next season marks the second consecutive year the Dodgers have provided a Robinson replica jersey on the historic date.
Clayton Kershaw (April 25), Roberts (May 11) and Don Newcombe (May 25) are among the bobblehead giveaways next season. So too is a 1981 World Series tri-MVPs bobblehead (July 2) to honor Ron Cey, Pedro Guerrero and Steve Yeager.
Whereas last year former Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda was the subject of a garden gnome, part owner and Los Angeles Lakers Hall of Fame point guard Magic Johnson gets the treatment next season (Aug. 14).
The Dodgers also announced two new mini-plan options for the 2016 season with tickets starting at $19 per game. A 21-game Collectors Plan offers tickets to Opening Day, all 10 bobblehead games, all 10 retired number collectible pins games and Jackie Robinson Day.
Also newly available is a 30-game Flex Plan, which allows for any 2016 home game to be selected, including Opening Day. Click here to view more details and purchase a mini plan.
Giveaways will again be provided for the first 40,000 fans in attendance, unless noted otherwise. Complete Dodgers 2016 promotional and giveaway schedule:
