The Los Angeles Dodgers wrapped up the regular season on Sunday, finishing with the best record in all of baseball at 43-17 and going into the postseason as the top seed in the National League.
The NL standings were crowded until the final day of the season, but once the dust settled, it was determined the Dodgers area facing Milwaukee Brewers in a three-game Wild Card Series that begins on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium.
With plenty of time until they take the field, DodgerBlue.com’s Jeff Spiegel and Daniel Starkand recorded an episode of “DodgerHeads” to preview the series between the Dodgers and the Brewers, and discuss more happenings with the 2020 MLB postseason.
Included in that preview is some keys to defeating the Brewers, who finished 29-31 but still made the postseason as the eighth and final team in the NL.
Despite their sub-.500 record, the Brewers feature a quality pitching staff, including a bullpen with two of the sport’s best relievers in Josh Hader and Devin Williams, making for an opponent who can pose a challenge to the Dodgers in the first round.
While Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has given some hints about what his 28-man Wild Card round roster will look like, there are a few spots still up for grabs, which was another topic of conversation. Roberts has said that the plan is to carry 12-13 pitchers.
Postseason predictions
To close out the show, Spiegel and Starkand made postseason predictions, filling out their brackets for both the NL and American League, including a pick to win the World Series.
With eight teams from each league making the playoffs, this could be the wildest and craziest October in Major League history. The Dodgers were the best team all year long, but with only a three-game series to start things off, truly anything can happen.
