When the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros met in the 2017 World Series, it was viewed as a matchup between the two juggernauts who were the best teams in baseball. What unfolded was a thrilling seven-game classic.

Of course, it since has been marred by revelations of the Astros’ egregious electronic sign-stealing. When Major League Baseball announced the findings from their investigation, it set off a wave of criticism throughout other clubhouses.

The vitriol has largely been put to the back amid the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Orel Hershiser recently shared his thoughts on the matter. His first public comments came on “Off Air with Joe and Orel,” which Hershiser co-hosts along with Joe Davis.

The 1988 World Series champion grew emotional when speaking about the Dodgers being cheated out of a likely title, and he joined the chorus of those to dismiss the Astros’ championship as being valid or won on merit.

Hershiser’s comments were the subject of a discussion on the latest episode of “DodgerHeads.” Host Jeff Spiegel was joined by DodgerBlue.com managing editor Matthew Moreno, and the two also shared their favorite Dodgers moments that each was present for.

The list of games included a personal connection each had with Vin Scully at Dodger Stadium, plus playoff memories.

Jeff and Matthew also recapped how Gavin Lux has fared while representing the Dodgers in the MLB Players League. Thirty players are playing a round-robin schedule on “MLB The Show 20,” and Lux is currently tracking to make the playoffs.

MLB, the MLBPA and Sony will donate $5,000 on behalf of each participating player to a Boys & Girls Club affiliate in their team’s community. The winner of the Players League will earn an additional $25,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Club in his community.

Each of Lux’s games streams live on his personal Twitch account. He recently received the support of Justin Turner, who participated in the channel’s chat feature.
