The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has not only limited Major League Baseball to a best-case scenario of 60-game season in 2020, but brought about sweeping changes across the world.
No longer is it business as usual in many sectors, including at Dodger Stadium, where the Los Angeles Dodgers are forging ahead with Summer Camp workouts and intrasquad games ahead of Opening Day on July 23.
Well before the Dodgers were able to reconvene with players, they joined the drove of organizations turning to Zoom as a means of keeping connected during quarantine. As virtual chats became all the rage, so too did utilizing the Zoom feature that allowed for a custom background.
In light of that, a Dodger Stadium Zoom background is available for free download via MLB. All 30 team stadiums are available along with one of a baseball and general view of a foul pole.
On any given night the view at Dodger Stadium is one of the more picturesque across baseball and professional sports as a whole. That certainly is the case with the Zoom background selected by MLB, as it features what Vin Scully famously called a “cotton candy sky.”
Dodgers made use of Zoom to connect with fans
Along with the organization utilizing Zoom internally, they also began hosting weekly Zoom parties that were made available for fans to watch and submit questions for players.
They were regularly hosted by Joe Davis, Orel Hersisher and Alanna Rizzo, and featured the likes of Walker Buehler, Mookie Betts, Kiké Hernandez Clayton Kershaw and Justin Turner, among several others. Turner was one of the more consistent guests to do the weekly show.
The Dodgers also incorporated celebrities and diehard fans George Lopez, Ken Jeong, plus others.
