The Los Angeles Dodgers built their roster with a handful of superstars that stand at the top of premier talent throughout Major League Baseball. Among those is Freddie Freeman, whose marquee postseason helped deliver the eighth World Series title in franchise history.
Despite being hindered by a significant sprained ankle and rib injury, Freeman batted .300/.364/1.000 with one triple, four home runs and 12 RBI in the World Series. His Game 1 walk-off grand slam delivered the Dodgers a 6-3 win and jolt for the remainder of the Fall Classic.
Freeman’s steadiness is one of the reasons why the Dodgers have been so successful. Manager Dave Roberts highlighted a few qualities, with one holding exceptional value.
“He’s brought the desire,” Roberts said of Freeman. “He’s got gratitude, the desire to play every day, to know that this is a job and your job is to play and you’ve got to maximize your value. And that’s by playing. He’s tough, he’s about the team.
“I’ve said it before, all encompassing, he’s my favorite player to be around as far as what he does for the culture, the organization, the team.”
Since signing with the Dodgers heading into the 2022 season, Freeman has been as advertised. Playing through injuries that would keep some out for extended periods is the norm for the veteran.
Freeman also boasts a calm demeanor, and in the game’s biggest moments, he put it on display. The World Series walk-off grand slam was a full-circle instance when considering Freeman’s tumultuous year that included his son Maximus battling a neurological disorder.
Freddie Freeman & wife Chelsea donate to wildfire relief efforts
Amidst the ongoing fires raging in Southern California, Freeman and his wife Chelsea donated to Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Pasadena Fire Department and Salvation Army to help aid in relief efforts.
Pledging a grand total of $300,000, the Freemans demonstrating an immense level of generosity is another notch to who they are.
