The Los Angeles Dodgers’ group of All-Star Game representatives increased to six on Saturday as Justin Wrobleski was named to the National League team in place of Cincinnati Reds starter Chase Burns.
Wrobleski joins Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Shohei Ohtani, Andy Pages and Yoshinobu Yamamoto as Dodgers players heading to Philadelphia for the Midsummer Classic. However, Ohtani won’t be able to make the trip due to continued irritation in his left knee.
Wrobleski has been a breakout star this season and is now rewarded with his first career selection to the All-Star Game.
“I was elated,” manager Dave Roberts said of Wrobleski being added to the NL roster. “I got a call from Major League Baseball, and then it was just great for me to be able to deliver that message to Justin. He was out with some friends earlier today, so I gave him a call.
“He didn’t pick up the first time, and then called me back, and I got to congratulate him on his first All-Star nomination. He was very excited, very grateful, and as we talk a lot about, the game honors you, and the game today honored Justin.”
Roberts had been vocal about his desire for Wrobleski to be included on the NL All-Star roster, but wasn’t confident that it would actually happen.
“I was unsure. I was unsure,” Roberts explained. “I think that as we’ve seen many years, that there’s people that with starts, guys are starting today or tomorrow, and then they can’t pitch on Tuesday. And there’s some other things that guys have going on.
“So you hope that there’s going to be some replacements, as there always are, and I just hoped his number would get picked, and ultimately it did.”
Justin Wrobleski’s 2026 stats
Wrobleski has gone 10-2 with a 2.69 ERA, 3.39 FIP and 1.01 WHIP in 100.1 innings through 16 appearances (15 starts) thus far.
He opened the season in the bullpen and made one appearance there before moving into the rotation. As a starting pitcher, the left-hander owns a 2.52 ERA in 96.1 innings.
Wrobleski became one of only two Dodgers pitchers over the last decade to earn 10 wins in a season before the start of July, joining Clayton Kershaw, who accomplished the feat in 2016, 2017, and 2023.
