The Los Angeles Dodgers will have plenty of representation at the 2026 MLB All-Star Game as they tied the host Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves for the most player selections with five.
Shohei Ohtani (designated hitter), Freddie Freeman (first base), Max Muncy (third base) and Andy Pages (outfield) will start for the National League, while Yoshinobu Yamamoto is part of the pitching staff.
It’s the seventh consecutive year that the Dodgers have at least five players headed to the Midsummer Classic. That is tied with the 1942-49 St. Louis Cardinals for the third-longest streak in MLB history, trailing only the 1956-65 New York Yankees (10) and 1936-43 Yankees (eight).
The Dodgers will have four All-Star Game starters for the first time since 1980, and now have had three or more four times in the last five seasons.
Dave Roberts wants more Dodgers All-Stars
The Dodgers could potentially have even more representatives depending on the number of injury replacements and pitchers who are unable to take the mound in the exhibition game next week. If manager Dave Roberts had his way, Justin Wrobleski, Tanner Scott and Mookie Betts would be added onto the NL roster.
“It’s the first time in a long time we’ve had four starters as far as position players start the All-Star Game, so that was great. We got Yamamoto in there as a pitcher,” Roberts began. “I think Wrobo’s had an All-Star worthy half, I think Tanner Scott has had an All-Star worthy half.
“And you look at what Mookie’s done as far as playing shortstop, he’s had a great half as well.”
Wrobleski has been one of the Dodgers’ biggest surprises this season as a key contributor in their starting rotation. He owns a 10-2 record with a 2.80 ERA and 1.01 WHIP in 93.1 innings across 15 appearances (14 starts) on the year.
Scott is in the midst of a bounce-back season as he has pitched to a 2.70 ERA, 2.46 FIP, 0.82 WHIP and 11.5 strikeouts per nine with 12 saves across 36.2 innings pitched (39 games).
There was some thought that Betts had played his way into a late selection behind his recent surge, but he ultimately fell short of earning a ninth career trip to the All-Star Game. Betts advanced to Phase 2 of All-Star Game voting, but wasn’t able to overtake the Washington Nationals’ CJ Abrams.
