Dave Roberts: Chris Taylor ‘Invaluable’ To Dodgers Organization

Ever since Chris Taylor broke onto the scene for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2017, he has been one of the more consistent players both at the plate and in the field. Yet, Taylor doesn’t get the same type of attention that a lot of the other key players on a World Series contender receive.

“Chris Taylor is invaluable to me and the organization. I say this a lot about our guys, he’s a pro. He does everything the right way, things that come out of his mouth are the right things, he’s all-in,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

“To play whatever position, hit anywhere in the order, come off the bench, whatever I ask of him, he’s in for. I recently looked at over the last few years, he was one of the top 20 in WAR in all of baseball. I don’t think he gets the credit that he deserves around the league. I think his peers and opponents understand it.

“But I don’t think he would have it any other way. He’s kind of under the radar, put my head down and perform.”

Taylor’s importance could continue to increase as the Dodgers remain uncertain when Corey Seager will return from back discomfort.

Roberts touts Taylor as ‘manager’s dream

Taylor had arguably the play of the year for the Dodgers this past week in San Diego when he threw out the tying run at home plate to end the game and secure a victory over the Padres.

After making the throw, Roberts touted Taylor as a dream player for any manager. “It was a huge play. Chris has done so much to help us win baseball games,” Robert said.

“Even the play before, to cut it off and keep the guy at first base. Then come in and make a strong, accurate throw. He does so many things. The triple that he got. He’s just a manager’s dream. He’s always ready when called upon and he seems to impact the game any time he’s in there.”
