Clayton Kershaw: Dodgers’ 2025 World Series Run Felt Like ‘A Fairy Tale’

Clayton Kershaw capped off his illustrious career with the Los Angeles Dodgers by contributing to their magical 2025 World Series run.

The left-hander made two appearances out of the bullpen during the playoffs, including in Game 3 of the World Series when he helped the team escape a bases-loaded jam in the 12th inning. L.A. went on to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-5, in 18 frames.

Kershaw did not pitch again from that point on but he did warm up in Game 7 and would have taken the mound if Yoshinobu Yamamoto had not induced a double play.

Kershaw looked back at the 2025 postseason and was honored to help the Dodgers repeat as World Series champions, via Andy McCullough of The Athletic:

“Watching some of the highlights back from the playoffs, it feels like a fairy tale, that I got to end it the way it did,” Kershaw said. “I literally couldn’t have asked for anything more. I just am so grateful for it all. It was an amazing run, man. It was so good. I have so much peace not throwing a ball again.”

The Dodgers’ 2025 World Series run was memorable for many players and fans alike. It featured unlikely contributions from the likes of Will Klein and Miguel Rojas, while Kershaw was able to have a signature moment in his final appearance on a Major League mound.

The three-time Cy Young Award spent 18 seasons with the Dodgers and set multiple records while winning just about every accolade possible to go along with three World Series titles.

Clayton Kershaw explains decision to pitch for Team USA

Kershaw may have retired but he will pitch at least one more time in a competitive setting.

Kershaw was named to the Team USA roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, marking the first time he will participate in the event.

Kershaw was extended the opportunity to pitch for Team USA this year by manager Mark DeRosa and felt it was too good to pass up.
