The Los Angeles Dodgers are in the midst of a historic stretch that includes 11 consecutive playoff appearances, 10 National League West titles, three pennants and one World Series championship since the 2013 season.
With their success has come increased expectations, and that especially holds true this year following the offseason acquisitions of Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow, among others.
With Spring Training quickly approaching, the Dodgers once again find themselves as World Series favorites, but the pressure this season may be higher than any other year.
During an appearance on MLB Network, Chris Taylor said he embraces the World Series expectations that come with playing for the Dodgers:
“We understand what comes with wearing Dodger Blue. The expectation is always to win a World Series. And I think that’s the best part of playing for the Dodgers. You want to be there in October when it counts, and you know each and every year, you’re going to have an opportunity to play in games that matter most, and that’s why I love playing for this team.
Since becoming a regular part of the Dodgers roster in 2017, Taylor has participated in the postseason each year. Not many players can say that, which is why the Dodgers have become a popular destination for free agents.
Taylor is coming off a 2023 season that saw him bat .237/.326/.420 batting line, 15 doubles, 15 home runs, 56 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 117 games. He went on to record one hit in six at-bats against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL Division Series.
While Taylor doesn’t have a set position heading into 2024, he still figures to get consistent at-bats due to his ability to play all over the field.
