Chris Taylor ‘Doesn’t Take Back’ Criticism Of Yankees After Dodgers Won World Series

In the aftermath of winning the World Series against the New York Yankees, Chris Taylor and other members of the Los Angeles Dodgers caused a commotion with various comments and criticism of their opponent.

Throughout the past offseason, Taylor and other players were outspoken of the Yankees’ defense and how the Dodgers believed they could exploit that aspect. Taylor delivered his criticism of the Yankees during an episode of Mookie Betts’ podcast that was recorded the night of the Dodgers’ World Series parade and celebration at Dodger Stadium.

This weekend’s series is first time the two teams have faced off since the Dodgers won the World Series in five games last year. But Taylor was not a part of it, as he was released by the Dodgers on May 18.

Now a member of the Los Angeles Angels, Taylor admitted he may have been caught up in the heat of the moment, but doesn’t regret his comments about the Yankees, according to Brendan Kuty of the Athletic:

“Obviously, like, I guess we were caught up in the celebration a little bit, too, at that point,” Taylor said. “I think all of us were maybe speaking a little more freely than we would in a typical interview.

“But I don’t take back what I said. I think I was just telling the truth. I didn’t mean any offense by it. I guess you could say, I could see how people would take it personally. I could see how that would maybe put a chip on their shoulder. But, to me, it kind of was what it was.”

Taylor appeared in all five games of the World Series, but a majority of the time it was late as a defensive replacement. He was called upon as a pinch-runner for Gavin Lux in Game 1 and came around to score on Freddie Freeman’s walk-off grand slam.

Taylor’s lone plate appearance came in Game 4 as a pinch-hitter, and resulted in a ground out to second.

Chris Taylor upset Yankees manager

Yankees manager Aaron Boone took issue with Dodgers players being critical of his team after their victory.

Particularly, Boone’s response was seemingly aimed in response to thoughts Joe Kelly shared about the Yankees, and the manager also referenced what Taylor said during Betts’ podcast.
